GIS Tech Center at Pista ng Mapa 2023

Embarking on the conquest of fostering global competitiveness, the GIS Tech Center actively enthusiastically took part in the three-day Pista ng Mapa 2023, the premier conference in the Philippines dedicated to free and open principles. This engagement served as a vital outreach activity for individuals passionate about open mapping, data, and technology. The event was held in Tacloban City from November 21 to 23, 2023 and was hosted by UP Tacloban.

Ms. Jannie Fleur V. Oraño, Head of the GIS Tech Center, alongside Mr. Jorton A. Tagud and Mr. Jerome Jack O. Napala took the opportunity to share the GIS Tech Center's research outputs, emphasizing the organization's contributions to the field of geospatial technology. Simultaneously, the YouthMappers presented their yearlong journey in open mapping, offering unique insights and perspectives during conference sessions and workshops.

Their engagement has significantly expanded the GIS Tech Center's potential for collaboration and community involvement within the industry. Their joint endeavors not only recognize the value of open source, open data, and open mapping but also establish the groundwork for a more interconnected and collaborative future.
