SLSU-Bontoc holds Strategic Planning and Target Setting Workshop for CY 2024

As SLSU-Bontoc gears up for another enriching yet challenge-loaded year, Heads for various functional units came together at Kuting Reef, Macrohon, Southern Leyte on October 17-18, 2023, to hold its Strategic Planning and Target Setting for CY 2024, combined with the institution’s Performance Review and Evaluation for FY 2023. This activity is pivotal for SLSU-Bontoc to produce strategic decisions in achieving its objectives and continually improve its services as a recognized Provincial Institute for Fisheries (PIF).

The two-day activity started with the presentation of significant successes achieved by SLSU-Bontoc. Mentions on the notable accomplishments per functional unit, i.e., academics, research and extension, student affairs and services, administration, and finance, were also done by the respective Unit Heads. SLSU-Bontoc Supreme Student Council (SSC) President, Ms. Chellu Espina, was also present to share updates on student organizations and their action plans. Upon hearing the different roles and contributions, including the challenges SLSU-Bontoc has to endure, participants felt enthused and inspired to deliver even more and eagerly chart their ways to live up to its mandate in providing progressive leadership in its areas of specialization.

Bonded by challenging financial times coupled with the aspiration of effectively using limited resources, SLSU-Bontoc sought the expertise of Mr. Linnito Pascual, the Supervising Economic Development Specialist of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) RVIII, in leading the team in identifying its competitive advantages, areas for improvement, potential growth opportunities and external risks through the application of SWOT analysis. Presentation and feedback of SWOT analysis outputs followed.

The two-day activity concluded with a unit presentation of programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) in response to campus targets anchored on the University-wide Strategic Plan Execution Continuum for 2022-2026.
