Southern Leyte State U, Southern Leyte Provincial Government inks deal for e-Mercado Project

On October 10, 2023, Southern Leyte State U signed a Memorandum of Agreement for their full support and commitment to collaborating with the Southern Leyte Provincial Government to launch the e-Mercado Project.

The e-Mercado Project is an innovative initiative to address challenges in the agricultural sector, including supply imbalances, high costs, and middlemen profiting at the expense of farmers. It envisions an online marketplace where our local producers can sell their products to diverse buyers, promoting sustainable economic growth for farmers and stakeholders.

SLSU, as the sole university in the province, is committed to maintaining and improving the platform, including training users and creating informative materials. The Project holds promise for a prosperous e-commerce ecosystem, with plans for data analytics to enhance decision-making and agricultural practices in Southern Leyte.

Dr. Francis Ann T. Sy, the Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension Services, and Mr. Vitto Jesus L. Tomol, the Head of the Provincial System's Administrator's Office, served as honorable witnesses to this historic MOA signing.

Also in attendance were Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Southern Leyte Board Members, Hon. Napoleon P. Regis, Hon. Ina Marie K. Loy, Hon. Rolando Q. Bacoy, Hon. Myra C. Rentuza, Hon. Fe G. Edillo, Hon. Lou Chin C. Lee. Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between government institutions and educational establishments for regional development.

Additionally, the municipality of Sogod, Southern Leyte, strongly supported the e-Mercado Project led by Mayor Vice-Mayor Jose Ramil Golo.
