CRS, Southern Leyte State U partner for ST Odette recovery program

A Memorandum of Agreement on Early Recovery Livelihoods Assistance Program to Typhoon Odette beneficiaries was signed between the Southern Leyte State University and Catholic Relief Services - United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) on February 14, 2023 at Southern Leyte State U-San Juan Campus.

The program is intended for beneficiaries in selected Barangays of Tomas Oppus, Malitbog, Liloan, and San Francisco, Southern Leyte, under the provisions of business and enterprise trainings on farming, restoration of fishing boats, and gears, food vending, food processing, buy and sell, floor mat weaving, and purchase of equipment for restoration of lost economic activities. It provides a cash grant to each beneficiary - family amounting to Php15,000.

Through this pursuit, the CRS will work closely with SLSU - San Juan, Bontoc, and Hinunangan Campuses in implementing the livelihoods assistance program.

The MOA signing activity was attended by SLSU President, Dr. Jude A Duarte, VP-RIES, Dr. Francis Ann R. Sy, Director for Extension Services, Dr. Francis Aniga, and the Campus Directors; Dr. Gary D. Garcia, SLSU-San Juan Campus, Mr. Wade C. Lim, SLSU-Hinunangan Campus, Dr. Dewoowoogen Baclayon, SLSU-Bontoc Campus, extensionists, and staff of the University.

The Catholic Relief Services - United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB) was represented by Mr. Mario Elmer C. Mayote, and Ms. Pathy Rose Aborque.
